Boabab Entertainment, together with the National Arts Council and the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture, brings you Music Extravaganza for Workers’ Day.
This entertainment crew annually delights with this type of show but due to Covid-19 it was decided to change things up a bit and present the show virtually.
Music Extravaganza will showcase different types of music styles, performed by different artists. When Boabab Entertainment was asked about how they selected their line up for this show, they answered they will be focusing more on the artists who are full-time musicians and were affected negatively by the pandemic this year. “We also believe that this line up will show a variety of music styles and demonstrate the social cohesion among people of different backgrounds,” they further explained on their line up selection.
As far as challenges experienced, they stated the only one was the short time frame in which they had to plan the event as well as the booking of national artists. The group decided to have the event on Workers’ Day/May Day because, as it being a holiday (and a Saturday), they want the audience to take their time and enjoy the show.
Since it will be a virtual show, it will be streamed via Quicket at R120 per ticket. Each person will get his or her own unique link to stream the show. It is going to be a five-hour show, with back-to-back live music performances. The artists for the show are Siki Jo-an; Highlights Encore; Jaques May; Viyande Ndara and Simple Stories.
Boabab Entertainment’s slogan, “Empowering the youth, building the nation”, is exactly what they intend doing through their platforms.
“The arts is simply one of many tools that we use to bring entertainment to audiences and empowering the youth regionally and hopefully, soon nationally as well.”
