Over the past few days, the Bloemfontein Neighbourhood Association Group has embarked on various cleaning initiatives across the city. Starting at the Arthur Nathan Swimming Pool and moving into the CBD and parts of Hilton.
The founder of the organization, Anneke Anker, has thanked everyone who has supported and contributed. “Every small effort makes a big difference in uplifting our neighborhoods and creating a community we can all be proud of.”
Reflecting on the team’s frequent visits to the Arthur Nathan Swimming Pool, Anker noted that illegal occupants continue to access the property. She said that the premises in is in dire need of attention and cleaning. The team filled up about 90 bags with grass, leaves, and branches during their recent cleanup (10/10).
“We currently have no financial support for this project. Everything you see being done is out of our own pockets — purely because we care about keeping this space clean and safe for our community,” Anker added.
To continue their efforts and to encourage local business to take part in similar community projects, BNAG will host a pizza and wine business social at Minnie’s Pizzeria at Baysvillage on 21 October from 18:00.
“Businesses and communities face challenges daily that threaten growth and prosperity – potholes, illegal dumping, water & power failures, unemployment & homelessness, and crime. Please join our launch evening to share your experiences and shape real solutions that protect and grow your businesses and our city,” she said.
