The Toyota Cheetahs have made two changes to their starting XI for Saturday’s big Currie Cup derby against the Griquas in Kimberley.

In the backline, Clayton Blommetjies returns from injury and will start at fullback with Cohen Jasper moving to the bench.

The winger Dan Kasende is fit and retains is place on the right wing, and he will get to face his former team for the first time.

The only change upfront sees Cameron Dawson starting at loosehead prop. Alulutho Tshakweni comes onto the bench as cover for Dawson.

Cheetahs coach, Hawies Fourie, told OFM Sport that Blommetjies experience will be valuable.

“Blomme has got all the experience that you need at fullback. He has played a lot of games there for the Cheetahs and he has a good kicking game, while he is also good in the air with contestable kicks. That will add a lot of value.

“Cohen has done well for us on attack and he is a bit unlucky to miss out on a start, but he is on the bench and will provide cover for the outside backs.”

Fourie added that he is confident that the dangerous winger Kasende is ready for the game after passing a fitness test on Thursday morning.

“Dan did a fitness test before the training session of Thursday morning and he passed it. He participated in the whole training session and again this morning (Friday) without any discomfort. So, he is a 100% ready to go.”

Saturday’s big central derby in Kimberley kicks off at 14:30.
