A man from Bloemspruit has been sentenced for the 2023 attack of his neighbour. On 15 October of last year, a 37-year-old became the victim of an attack by the now sentenced Moferere Lebusho, who was her neighbour at the time.
“The victim was walking home from the local tavern when she met with her 24-year-old neighbour who requested that they both walk home,” stated police spokesperson, Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli.
“While walking, the 24-year-old neighbour hit the victim on the head with an unknown object and proceeded to assault her while pulling her to his house where he forced himself on the victim,” Kareli added.
He further mentioned that the victim managed to get away and sought assistance from her neighbours and the Bloemspruit police were contacted, prompting a search for the suspect. “A week passed and the suspect handed himself over to the police and has been in custody since,” stated Kareli.
Sergeant Manyatso Maseko of the Mangaung Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit worked with Advocate Joseph Cwele on the case.
“Moferere Lebusho, aged 24, was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment for rape and was declared unfit to possess a firearm,” concluded Kareli.
