Thabang Masilo, a second-year Information Technology (IT) student at Damelin Private College in Bloemfontein, has created his own sport website called Bloemfontein Elite Sports.
Bloemfontein Elite Sports focuses on high school sport leagues as well as other local sport that take place in and around Bloemfontein. The website focuses mainly on rugby, soccer, netball and hockey.
This Bloemfontein entrepreneur started working on the website in December 2017 but will officially launch on 1 February 2018.
“Being from Bloemfontein and seeing that local sport does not get much attention, I felt the need to create this website. Since there is almost no support for local sport in general I want to promote and expose these local teams to the public and give them the necessary recognition,” said Masilo.
He is the mastermind behind the idea, but one of his fellow students, Kagisho Maseola, will start to assist with the process and he will also help compile and write the sport articles for the website.
One would think that such a process would be a bit expensive but Masilo confirms that it is not that expensive. “It is not a lot of money, I will only pay R150 per month to host the website,” he said.
He is also planning on developing more applications in the future.
Look out for the website on 1 February at www.bfnelitesports.co.za.
