Bloemfontein Public Library to be closed for renovation


The Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation would like to announce that the
Bloemfontein Public Library, situated on the corner of Charles and West Burger Street, will be
closed for upgrades and renovations from Monday 23 September 2013 until further notice.
The renovations will ensure that the Bloemfontein Public Library is upgraded to a state of the art
Library of international standard, and form part of the Departments infrastructure upgrade
program as outlined in the MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Mr. D.A.M. Kgothule’s
Budget Speech of 2013.
Upgrades for this phase include:
? Upgrade of the Study Area with ± 100 study cubicles
? Public Internet access and Wi-Fi Connection
? Increasing the number of public toilets
? Renovation of the Reference Section
? Enquiry desk for better access to information resources
? User-friendly reading area
? Improved access to photocopy facilities
? Improved access for physically disabled people
Further upgrades are planned in the next phase, such as:
? Renovation of the Lending Section
? Renovation Children’s section
? User-friendly entrance and circulation desk
