Bloemfontein police arrest 18-year-old in drug bust

Members of the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) in Bloemfontein acted swiftly on a tip-off about an individual allegedly involved in drug dealing, arresting an 18-year-old suspect and seizing a significant haul of drugs and cash.

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli, the operation took place in Bayswater shortly before midnight on Saturday, 25 October.

“A search conducted by members led to the recovery of a substantial quantity of illegal drugs and cash, including Crystal Meth (Tik), Mandrax tablets, and R93,190 in cash,” stated the spokesperson.

The drugs and cash were confiscated as evidence, and the 18-year-old suspect was charged with dealing in drugs and detained.

“The case has been registered at the Bayswater Police Station, and the suspect will appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court soon,” confirmed Kareli. “The SAPS remains committed to combating drug-related crime to ensure the safety and security of the community.”
