In its quest to unearth new talent, the Gallery on Leviseur is hosting an illustration competition on Friday 26 October from 5 pm.

The gallery is calling all Bloemfontein creatives to come and enjoy the evening with them. The competition is open to all and entry is free. Entrants will be provided with pens and papers.

Entrants will have to draw an illustration and the winner will win a cash prize as well as have his/her illustration printed on the “It’s Not Made in China” still water bottles.

“It’s Not made in China” still water was created four years ago and are distributed in several provinces including the Free State. The co-owner of the brand, Tracy Ruggier, told Bloemfontein Courant that she always had a passion for artists and illustrators.

“We came up with this project because we want to give artists a platform to express themselves, and what better way than by making our still water bottle the canvas.”

The brand was created because the team feels that too many products are imported from China, which creates unemployment. The team has chosen the name hoping that it will make people support local products more. – Sazly Hartzenberg
