Bloemfontein Courant has launched its community project, Bloemfontein Courant Care Bags, last month. The reaction we had from companies and the community was overwhelming. The goal of the project was to help as many people in need as we can, for as long as we can, and to encourage others to do the same. We asked our readers and clients to compile a Care Bag (Ziploc bag) containing toothpaste, a toothbrush, soap, a facecloth, R10 in an envelope, winter gloves and a scarf or a beanie.
We are proud to announce that with your help we have collected more than 600 Care Bags.
These bags will benefit three local organisations. All of them work with people living and working on the street. They are:
• The Kidz Care Trust – a non-governmental organisation registered as an NPO working with vulnerable street children under the age of 18. They give these children shelter at the Ikaheng Shelter in Roodewal.
• Towers of Hope – a non-profit Christian Ministries organisation that reaches out to the broken, homeless and unemployed in Bloemfontein.
• End It SA – a PBO fighting human trafficking, with the main focus on ending sex trafficking.
Bloemfontein Courant as well as the beneficiaries of this project would like to thank each and everyone who contributed to this project. It is amazing to see how many still care about the people around them living in hardship.
Also a BIG thank you to our camera-shy donors:
