Jessica Sithole, an actress from Bloemfontein, who made her debut on The River last year, will soon be seen in yet another well-known TV soapie on 1Magic, Gomora.
Sithole will play the 28 year-old Nolo Makinta who is “a failed slay queen traumatized by all the things rich men have put her through.” She explains that her character’s disdain for men draws her to another wounded woman, Thathi, played by well-known actress Katlego Danke.
“What I love most about the character I will be playing, is that it is a challenge and a challenge for me is an impulse for growth. Nolo is such an adventure for me and I’m enjoying the ride. She is something new and different and this has allowed me to drill deeper within me, to work on my craft, discover new ways and possibilities in order to deliver in the best way possible,” she said.
Sithole told Bloemfontein Courant that in the last year, the biggest lesson she has had to learn was patience. “The fact that I was on The River did not guarantee a free pass in the industry. I still had to do auditions, get a few ‘no’s’ and start all over again. This for me was a time to hone my acting skills. As my acting coach Camilla Waldman always says, craft maximises talent.”
Sithole will make her debut on next Tuesday’s episode of Gomora (17 May).
