Bloem school makes difference in kids’ lives

Learners of Mangaung Primary School

A Bloemfontein school is motivated to make a difference in the lives of less privileged children within its community.

Mangaung Primary School, situated in Rocklands, has made it its priority to do everything it can to assist its learners.

The School recently collaborated with the United Congregational Church in Bloemfontein to start a shoe donation project, whilst also offering a feeding scheme at the School. The pastor of the Church, Seabonga Nzewuza, says they plan to reach out to other schools as well. They are also donating sanitary towels to girls this year.

The principal, Phakiso Janku, says the Church’s Walk a Child to School Project is assisting them immensely, as most of their learners are vulnerable, their parents are unemployed, and they mostly come from disadvantaged backgrounds.

“The Project inspired many learners. Some of them don’t attend school, especially during winter, but with these types of projects they realize we care for them”.
