Bloemfontein Celtic have finally signed Musa Bilankulu on a permanent deal from Wits after several attempts to retain the services of the player.
The centre-back was on loan at the Bloemfontein side after struggling to impress the Clever Boys coach, Gavin Hunt. The 29-year-old was set to return to Johannesburg at the end of the season, but Siwelele were keen to keep him.
Bilankulu, who agreed a three-year deal with Phunya Sele Sele, will play a key role in the side’s defence next season, following the departure of the defensive trio of Clayton Daniels, Tsietsi Mahoa and Johannes Motlhaping.
Daniels left the club after signing a pre-contract with Supersport United while Mahoa and Motlhaping were released after the club decided not to renew their contracts.
Manager, John Maduka, said that the team would also love to secure Sundowns’ loan player, Musa Nyatama, on a permanent deal.
“Musa is a good player and we would really love to have a player of his calibre,” Maduka told Courant Sport.
Nyatama returned to Pretoria after his loan contract with Celtic expired, but Celtic are believed to have opened talks with the league champions over a permanent deal of the midfielder.
Nyatama scored eight goals in 30 starts in all competitions for the Free State side during the recently concluded 2013/14 season.
