Zola Thamae has expressed immense joy over her recent award for the most influential woman in sport this year in the country.
She received the national and regional award at Africa’s “Most Influential Women in Business and Government”- function in Johannesburg last week.
She sees this achievement as a milestone in her career as it has earned her a spot in the finals at a continental level. She says it shows that women can be successful in any field of their choice, including the male dominated ones.
“I’d like to say to women that, yes, it is a challenge to be in male dominated industry. It’s not in sport, but also industries such as mining, logistics, shipping, and others. However, you should never doubt yourself. There are lots of opportunities out there. Grab one and do your best,” she said.
Thamae is the first and only female president for Free State Cricket (FSC) in the history. She is also the first woman to serve in the Cricket SA’s general council.
