Bfn Post Office robbers denied bail


Three suspects, who allegedly robbed the Post Office in Phahameng in Bloemfontein of an undisclosed amount of money have been denied bail by the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court and will be remanded in custody.

According to the police the suspects, aged 31, 40 and 47 are facing charges which include business robbery.

The police explains that on Tuesday, 3 November 2020, just as the Post Office officials reported for duty at Mafata Street in Phahameng, Mangaung, they were allegedly ambushed by three unknown males, who demanded to know if they had already received the grant money.

The suspects then robbed the Post Office of an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene on foot. Fortunately members of the Mangaung SAPS Crime Prevention Unit were doing their patrols near the crime scene and responded promptly to the call for help.

The police managed to chase the suspects on foot until they apprehended them and recovered the stolen money as well as the firearm that was used during the robbery.

Their next court appearance will be on 12 November 2020.
