The passionate and determined 16-year old Tatum Macalagh from Heidedal is one step closer to her dream of becoming a world famous professional model. The Bloemfontein born and bred beauty has been personally scouted by renowned South African designer Pikkie Willett from Willett Designs Couture to walk the runway at New York Fashion Week next year February.
Willett saw great potential in the model and believes that this will not only give her the opportunity to walk the NY Fashion Week runway but to get the exposure she needs to get signed by a big agency. The event will be attended by some of the world’s greatest actors, singers and other celebrities.
According to her mother, Yolande Macalagh, Tatum has been doing modelling for most of her life and this opportunity is a dream come true. “She always wanted to give a message of hope to girls her age, that it doesn’t matter where you come from and it doesn’t matter how your background looks like but that all things are possible if you just put your mind to it,” said Yolande.
A life changing opportunity awaits for one of the city’s own roses but she has one obstacle in her way. In order for her to walk at the New York Fashion Week, Tatum will need R35 000 to cover her accommodation, travelling costs and registration. Anybody who would like to make a donation or sponsor Tatum to help her make her dreams come true, can contact Yolande on 0781563061.
The young model will be leaving the country in February 2020 if all funds are raised on time.
