Bfn man shoots girlfriend then turns gun on himself

The police in Bloemfontein have confirmed that they are investigating a case of attempted murder and inquest after a 23-year-old female was allegedly shot on the side of her head by her boyfriend. Police spokesperson, Peter Kareli, says Noluvo Portia Mpaise was allegedly shot at 15:30 yesterday afternoon at Namibia Square. Kareli says it is alleged that after shooting Mpaise the 29-year-old man then turned the gun on himself in an attempted murder-suicide. He confirmed that deceased died at the scene and that Mpaise was later rushed to a Bloemfontein hospital where she is receiving treatment.

“When police members arrived at the scene after being notified by somebody from Nambia Sqaure, they found the two in a pool of blood. Unfortunately the 29-year-old died at the scene and the family is yet to be notified of his death. A pistol was found at the scene, plus ten live rounds. The motive behind the shooting is still unknown, and we hope that we can soon find out what had happened,” says Kareli.
