A man, believed to be in his 60s, was left critically injured after he fell two metres down an elevator shaft at a shopping mall in the Bloemfontein CBD.
ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, said that their paramedics arrived on the scene at 11:00 to find the man still lying inside the shaft.
“Medics climbed into the shaft and assessed the patient, finding that he had sustained serious injuries to his head and leg, leaving him in a critical condition.
“The man was treated for his injuries and provided with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, Provincial Fire Services assisted paramedics in lifting the patient from the elevator shaft. The man was thereafter transported to Mediclinic Bloemfontein for further treatment,” he added.
