Bfn drug lab closed down, 2 suspects arrested

Crime Intelligence led information resulted in the discovery of a drug manufacturing lab in Phahameng, Bloemfontein, on Tuesday 12 September 2017.
Mangaung SAPS members Constable Lebogang Morwagae, Khotso Motlaloe and Oganne Ngake acted swiftly and pounced on the suspects while they were allegedly busy with the manufacturing of drugs in a house at Likate Street in Phahameng. Processed drugs such as Cat as well as chemicals that were used to manufacture Cat were found.
The house, belonging to an elderly lady, was allegedly used without her knowledge by suspects who had access to the house through relations with her granddaughter.
Two suspects, aged 37 and 39 years, were arrested and charged with dealing in and manufacturing of drugs. The case has been handed to the Hawks in Bloemfontein for further investigation, and the suspects are due to appear at the Bloemfontein Magistrate Court today.
The Provincial Commissioner of the Free State, Lieutenant General Lebeoana Tsumane, commended the integrated efforts by Crime Intelligence and Mangaung SAPS in responding swiftly and apprehending the suspects.
“Drugs and the abuse thereof have an adverse impact on community life and is one of the contributing factors to crime and violence, mostly to our youths. We appreciate community members who blew the whistle upon witnessing these illegal activities in their neighbourhood, and encourage them to continue working with the police to root out elements of crime in our society,” said Tsumane.
