The Bloemfontein Central Fire Station has been temporarily closed after an official tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday afternoon.
According to a statement by the Mangaung Metro Municipality, the member of the Fire and Rescue Service suffered a heart attack whilst on duty in the morning.
His colleagues successfully rendered life support but he was admitted to hospital in a serious condition. It was later confirmed that the official tested positive for Covid-19, thus leading to the immediate closure of the station.
Residents are notified that all emergency responses will take place from the Ehrlich Park Fire Station until the Bloemfontein Central Fire Station resumes with operations.
The contact number to report emergencies to is 051-409-9600. Residents will be informed once the decontamination process is complete and the station reopens.
