One of Bloemfontein’s very own, Jeanre du Preez (28), has qualified to participate in the World Fitness Federation (WFF) Competition in the bikini line-up as a professional bikini model.

Du Preez explained to Bloemfontein Courant that she has been chosen for the South African team to represent the country in Thailand on 17 July. “This is a body building competition and all the professional athletes around the world will compete for the Miss Universe Bikini Title. The WFF promotes classic or athletic bodybuilding with a focus on the aesthetic quality of the physique as opposed to just muscularity. The Federation was formed in 1968.”

Du Preez says that when she started with this journey, she would never have thought that she would obtain her pro card and the opportunity to compete overseas for her country. “This is a sport that requires massive sacrifice, focus and discipline on another level. To compete on a world stage, is already a win for me.”

She explained that the judges look mostly at the symmetry of your body, the proportion of your body, and if your physique is in line with your line up as a Bikini Model/Body Builder/Sports Model. “Stage personality is super important and we have compulsory poses that we do. I have trained my routine and poses since last year with weekly posing sessions.”

Du Preez says that the residents of Bloemfontein are really good to her and she wants to be an ambassador abroad. She currently has a campaign called #BackABodyBuilder and she has appealed to businesses in the city to contribute to her trip to compete in Thailand. “Individuals can also contribute in their own capacity. I need R40 000. Individuals (and businesses) who contribute R1000 plus to my journey will be in the run for a lucky draw to win a weekend away for two at a lodge.”
