BFN abalone dealer fined R1000



A 44-year-old Chinese woman who was arrested at her home in Pellissier, Bloemfontein after being found in possession of abalone, has been fined R1000 for admission of guilt.

According to the Free State National Prosecuting Authority Phaladi Shuping, the woman who owns a restaurant at the Windmill Casino in Bloemfontein was found guilty in the city’s magistrate’s court yesterday.

The woman was arrested alongside a Chinese male chef who worked at the restaurant.

The 48-year-old man was said to not be in possession of the legal paperwork to be in the country, however after thorough investigation it was found he is in the country legally and charges against him were withdrawn.
