In 2013, Bloemfontein Courant launched the Best of Bloemfontein – Bloemfontein Courant Readers’ Choice Awards, the City of Roses’ hottest campaign. For the 12th year, we want to highlight and celebrate the best of the best our city has to offer. This widely-known campaign is the true definition of “Local is Lekker” and sets the standard for all local businesses. The campaign showcases the crème de la crème of Bloemfontein’s businesses in a range of categories, which include those that offer something to do, eat, drink, or buy in the City of Roses. As a melting pot of cultures, Bloemfontein offers limitless possibilities to those who call it home, and with that being said, the Best of Bloemfontein – Bloemfontein Courant Readers’ Choice Awards gives you, our valued reader, the opportunity to simply vote for the best in the city. These awards are proudly brought to you by Bloemfontein Courant.
The Voting Process
Readers can vote in more than 130 categories – everything from Best New Restaurant to the Best Shopping Centre; from your Favourite Radio Personality to the Best Place to buy Biltong! The campaign is all about the best businesses, institutions, and people in Bloemfontein. Readers can vote by providing their name, e-mail address, and phone number. For votes to count, at least 60% of the online ballot section must be completed. The winners in the different categories will each receive a Certificate of Merit, which can be displayed in their offices or businesses to boast about their achievements. The winners are announced in October each year and published in Bloemfontein Courant’s special Best of Bloemfontein – Bloemfontein Courant Readers’ Choice Awards supplement – a handy, Best of Bloemfontein newspaper with a year-long shelf-life. This year, voting closes on 09 September 2024.
