The Township Arts and Crafts Experience 2015 taking place in Batho Location on Saturday 28 November from 11:00 is unlike any other arts and crafts exhibition Bloemfontein has ever experienced.
Homes of residence will be used by artists to display their visual work as crafters will exhibit their handmade craft in Makgothi Street.
ITEC will also engage with the community members in providing for free; services inclusive of typing of CVs, photocopies, lamination of important document copies and many more.
While we seek to assist local artists to become sustainable, this event also offers patrons an exciting new shopping and entertainment experience.
With the holidays around the corner the event is just the place for people to buy unique and beautiful gifts for the whole family without breaking the bank.
Roxanne Konco, organiser of the event, speaks with great enthusiasm about this project and her passion for working with communities.
“For me the event is about more than just creating opportunities for crafters and visual artists. We also want to equip them with skills to become real business people. Being able to create beautiful masterpieces out of nothing won’t help much if you don’t have some level of business prowess.
“We’re starting with Batho because it is one of the oldest suburbs in Bloemfontein and because of its reach history. But the plan is to turn it into an annual event and ultimately add other townships in Bloemfontein and rest of the province as well,” says Konco
The exhibitors, who come from all over the Metro and the province will not only exhibit their work but display an extension of themselves in their hand-crafted masterpieces.
But the arts and crafts experience won’t be all work and no play. Apart from an array of other performers the crowds will so be entertained by the popular DJ Levince from Bloem Beat Records. So, on 28 November, round up your family and friends and head on down to Makgothi Street in Batho for a day to remember. Everyone is welcome!
Parking is available at Maphikela Park (opposite Batho Police Station)
Entrance is free but controlled.
