Back to business at Northridge Mall

It is all systems go at Northridge Mall in the northern suburbs of Bloemfontein after its doors were closed for business Friday morning following a hailstorm on Thursday afternoon. The storm caused the roof to leak onto passages of the mall. The CEO of the PHG Group, owner of the mall, Charl Gray, says the mall was re-opened on Friday afternoon.

He says they are still in the process of establishing the extent of the damage.

According to him the decision to close the shopping centre was taken after weather predictions indicated that more thunderstorms and rain might occur on Friday. “We closed the centre for safety reasons. People’s safety is a top priority to management of the mall.” He says that is why a professional team was deployed to assess the situation and give management an all clear to re-open the doors. Gray has also thanked tenants for their cooperation. – Christal-Lize Muller
