Local author, Realeboga Mrwebi, who achieved an outstanding milestone at a young age when she published two books at 19, is now looking to spread her wings in the entertainment industry.
Mrwebi says the literature bug bit her while she was still young, she has since been intrigued by reading and writing, which ultimately led to the release of her two books.
“For me, publishing ‘Bofelo Learns About June 16’ and ‘Bofelo Learns About Heritage Day’ was about more than just telling stories – it was about preserving our history, celebrating our culture, and inspiring the next generation of leaders,” Mrwebi said.
She touched on the importance of writing about South African history, noting how it is often overlooked, especially by her peers. “Growing up, I realised that many young people didn’t know much about our country’s history, especially the sacrifices made by the youth of 1976. I wanted to change that. I wanted to write books that would educate, inspire, and empower young people to take pride in their heritage.”
The author, now an aspiring DJ, said that while writing will always be her first love, she plans on breaking into the DJing scene and aspires to push boundaries.
“Music has always been a huge part of my life. I’m all about exploring my creativity. I realised that DJing wasn’t just about playing music – it was about creating a vibe, connecting with people, and sharing energy. It was like storytelling, but with beats instead of words! So, I decided to take the leap and pursue DJing more seriously. I started performing at local events, practising my skills, and learning from other DJs.”
