Performing Arts Centre of the Free State (Pacofs) is calling local community theatre groups from across the Free State province to take part in its annual Artistic Incubator Programme.
According to the artistic director at Pacofs, Meshack Xaba, the intention is to facilitate artistic skills development and enhance the quality of actors, writers and directors in the province, particularly in townships and disadvantaged communities, by creating a nurturing environment and enabling access to industry professionals assigned by Pacofs to drive this initiative.
Now in its fifth year, the programme has been essential for the development of new productions at grass roots level in regions throughout the province. Pacofs is looking for dance works depicting historical events of significance (fiction and non-fiction) and a well-structured production synopsis/ storyline. Show duration: 30 – 60 minutes. Language preferences: Any/all official South African languages. Maximum number of participants: No more than 10 people per cast.
Those who are interested can collect application forms from Pacofs or request them from email@example.com. They should then submit completed application forms, together with the production synopsis/script to firstname.lastname@example.org or hand deliver them to the development co-ordinator, Ms T. Monareng, at 12 First Avenue, Westdene.
According to Pacofs, shortlisted drama and dance groups will be invited to audition by showcasing their work to a selection panel who will review their presentations, give considered feedback and make recommendations regarding the groups that are to advance to the next stage of the programme.
