A motorist has survived an accident scare on the notorious R30 road between Allanridge and Bothaville in the Free State – despite signs indicating the road is closed for traffic.
This comes mere weeks after the Free State Executive Committee (EXCO), led by Premier Sisi Ntombela, visited the road as part of the infrastructure road show, OFM News reports.
Emergency Medical Services spokesperson, Sipho Towa, tells OFM News that the vehicle submerged in the water on the R30 road, as motorists continue to ignore road closure signs.
He says a driver and a passenger survived without injuries yesterday, and the vehicle was towed out of the water by emergency personnel.
The R30 road has been in the spotlight after leaving many road users dead or injured due to reoccurring accidents that finally led to the closure of the road.
OFM News previously reported that the provincial government will be partnering with the farming community to establish a lasting solution on the road that continuously claimed lives of motorists.
