ANC retains ward in Thaba Nchu by-elections

The African National Congress (ANC) retained Ward 39 in Thaba Nchu in the municipal by-elections held on Wednesday 1 March.

The Mangaung Municipality ward was hotly contested after it became vacant due to the death of ANC councillor, Tankiso Moea, last year.

Nozenza Cezula will take over as the new councillor after the ANC received 45.29% of the 5 379 votes casted.

Voter turnout declined by 2% as 51.64% of the registered voters took to the polls at the ten voting stations in the area compared to the 2016 Municipal Elections.
