REFILWE MEKOA
Free State ANC spokesperson Thabo Meeko said they’re ready to be led by a woman though they don’t have a time frame of when it will happen.
Meeko was responding to a comment made by political analyst Theo Venter on Monday that South Africa is ready for a female president however the ANC wasn’t ready.
“We appreciate all the various realities of apartheid and amongst them women where oppressed. That is why on the political policy of the ANC, gender struggle and woman emancipation are main issues that need to be addressed. ANC can be led by anybody as long they meet the requirements,” he said.
Meeko says they don’t discriminate and embraces anyone who wants to be an ANC leader regardless of their gender or gender.
“We have been ready for a very long time. The social stigma of our country is that women were oppressed three times more than men, so they will have certain limitations of opportunities,” said Meeko.
