The ANC in the Free State says they are inspired by the new Maluti a Phofung Municipality mayor’s energy.
ANC’s spokesperson Thabo Meeko says, Vusi Tshabalala will be able to achieve the party’s service delivery mandate. Tshabalala became acting mayor after then mayor Sarah Moleleki and municipal manager Madala Ntombela, resigned last September from allegations that they signed a controversial billion-rand energy contract with a private firm.
Tshabalala was inaugurated at the beginning of the month, in Qwa-Qwa. The ANC says they will continue supporting and guiding Tshabalala.
“The ANC took that decision taking into account the issues surrounding the municipality of Maluti a Phofung. Our view is that comrade Vusi Tshabalala, the youngest mayor in our province has got the necessary commitment,” says Meeko.
