ANC in the Free State is hopeful that they will do better in the next local government elections.
According to the ANC’s provincial secretary William Bulwane, though they didn’t achieve their targeted 85% last week in the general elections, they will start intensifying plans in accomplishing better municipal election results in the next two years.
Bulwane said they met all municipal mayors, managers and speakers on Wednesday to discuss ways of ensuring basic services reaches all 20 various provincial municipalities.
“We know what the people want and what they complain about as we have been to door to doors during our campaigning. So we called them to give out briefings of what residents complain about certain issues. We needed to hear how they will allocate all different complains in the municipality’s budget and Integrated Development Plans so that they become implementable. We are also going to strengthen our monitoring and evaluation team that is going to focus on each every municipality. We know that the two years to local government elections will not be an easy one,” said Bulwane.
