ANC convenes provincial cadres’ assembly

The ANC in the Free State is convening a “cadres’ assembly” on Monday to celebrate its 103rd birthday that the party commemorated nationally earlier this month in Cape Town.

According to provincial spokesperson Thabo Meeko, the assembly is to outline January 8 statement that was presented by President Jacob Zuma to the dynamics of the province. He said they will be assessing their annual programme by reflecting on their successes and instructions that guide them forward.

Meeko explained that they will also focus on the clauses of the ANC’s historic booklet, the Freedom Charter. He clarified that the cadres’ assembly will not be a rally.

“It is going to be a meeting of the ANC branches where the leadership structures will be invited to be part of the meeting where the chairperson of the ANC in the province will present the January 8 statement of the province by crystallizing the national January 8 national statement of the ANC. The January 8 statement is an instructive programme and all structures of the ANC have got to familiarize themselves by understanding and internalizing it,” he said.

Meeko added that active programmes will be implemented by branch leaders in their respective locations. All executive members from 317 ANC branches across the province including alliance partners will be addressed by ANC provincial chairperson Ace Magashule.
