An external investigator to probe Mazibuko’s allegations

An external investigator was appointed by the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality to probe allegations that involve suspended city manager, Sibongile Mazibuko.

Municipal speaker, Mxolisi Siyonzana, said an independent investigator will start on Thursday to investigate allegations on irregularities of millions of rand on the IPTN transport system for Mangaung and the Pine Haven project.

Siyonzana was speaking after a special council meeting that took place at Bloemfontein on Wednesday. He said Indira Kooverjee Incorporated will run its own investigation for thirty (30) days while the municipality’s ad hoc committee is also conducting its own investigations.

“The council have resolved that they have appointed Indira to do the investigation.

The company is not part of Mangaung and has no relationship with the municipality. It is an independent company,” he said.

Siyonzana announced Tankiso Mae as the acting city manager until investigations are completed.

However, the municipality already had an acting city manager, George Mohlakoana, since last Tuesday.

Siyonzana explained that Mohlakoana was appointed by Mazibuko to act on her behalf.
