Alleged rapist accused of operating brothel

Bloemfontein. – The Bloemfontein owner of two pub and grills, accused of raping one of his waiters in the early hours of June 17, has been granted bail of R5000 with strict conditions.

He is to report to the Navalsig Police station on Tuesdays and Thursdays between six in the morning and six at in the evening. The 46-year-old appeared before magistrate Piet Bester in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court this morning and his case has been postponed to 30 June for transfer to the Regional Court.

The suspect also faces two charges of human trafficking, along with two of rape, as well as a case of assault. The court heard today that in March of this year, a case of operating a brothel was opened against the suspect.
