‘Adopt an ECD’ aims to assist in poor communities



Manstopa municipality in Thabo Mofutsanynane District in the Eastern Free State has been identified to have the most impoverished Early Childhood Development (ECD) facilities. This was heard at the launch of “Adopt an ECD Campaign” at a breakfast meeting held at Windmill Casino today.

According to the Free State Manager of National Development Agency (NDA) Itumeleng Kwenane they identified 14 impoverished ECD facilities in Mantsopa and continue to urge stakeholders to adhere to their pledges.

"This national campaign was conceptualised and headed by Minister of Social Development Bathabile Dlamini together with the NDA board and provincially headed by MEC of Social Development Sisi Ntombela. Its purpose is to facilitate and create awareness about the needs in ECD education," he says.

The role players are from national, provincial and local government, and business. Kwenane adds when stakeholders adopt an ECD facility, it will form part of a social responsibility as well creating awareness that there is a need to prioritise in ECD becuase it forms basis of learning.

MEC of Department of Social Development Sisi Ntombela addressed several role players from national, provincial and local government, business, industry and other partners.
