OFM News reports, the spokesperson of One LIFE 911, Laxeris Moshwue, says it is alleged that the brakes of the taxi failed when the speeding car crashed onto it.
Moshweu further says after the collision the taxi rolled several times and the car caught fire. Two passengers in the car were trapped and the jaws of life had to be used to extricate them.
One passenger in the car was declared dead on the scene while the driver of the car was also declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
The taxi is alleged to have been travelling to a funeral in Klerksdorp with five adults and three children in transit. They were all transported to Bongani Hospital for moderate to critical injuries.
Moshweu says the other passenger who was in the vehicle is in a critical condition at the same hospital. He further adds that the taxi driver was nowhere to be found at the scene of the accident.
He says a search for him took place, however, after hours he was still nowhere to be found.
