A tale of two gates

A tale of two gates
Brenda Myburgh

We stand before two gates in life and the choice is actually very simple. According to Matt 7v13 it is either the narrow or wide gate which leads to the path you choose.

It reminds me of the Economy seats when you fly. They are uncomfortable and before you know it your neighbour is resting with his head on your shoulder. Business class is different. Everything is wider and more comfortable.

Matthew 7 says the wide gate is spacious and broad – but it leads to destruction and many people choose this path. The problem is that we try to justify why we are allowed to take the wider path and are oblivious to the consequences that will follow. Verse 14 says the way through the narrow gate is straight and compressed – it leads to life and those who find it are few. It makes sense; if there was no price difference between flying economy and business class what would you choose?

The choice is very simple. Are we enduring hardships for choosing the narrow path knowing the reward will come when we meet our Maker? Or will we give up on this eternity of peace and happiness to lead a life of free will on Earth?
