Duane Petrus – Free State police have arrested seven people from Virginia who allegedly disrupted an investigation into the killing of a man by an angry mob.
Police spokesperson, Malebo Khosana, says 22-year-old Tshidiso Klaas was stabbed and stoned to death at his home on Tuesday evening.
Khosana says a large number of community members on the scene were non-cooperative and disrupted the investigation.
The police had to use force to be able to perform their duties.
Of the seven suspects, six were arrested for public violence and one for possession of a dangerous weapon.
An arrest warrant was previously issued for one of the suspects after he was sought for the possession of an illegal firearm.
Khosana added that it would be difficult to charge anyone with the murder as all possible witnesses refuse to provide any information to the police. The seven will be in court tomorrow.
