Celtic unveil eight new players

The Premier Soccer League club, Bloemfontein Celtic, unveiled eight new players yesterday ahead of the 2018/19 season which starts this weekend. The bulk of the players came through the development and junior structures at the club.

The biggest signings this season are that of the versatile defender, Ryan de Jongh from the Platinum Stars, and the striker, Rendani Ndou from Polokwane City.

De Jongh previously worked with the coach, Steve Komphela, at Maritzburg United, and he told Courant that he looks forward to resuming the relationship.

“For me it is actually my second stint working under him because we had some time together at Maritzburg United.

“I know more of what he expects and what he wants. Maybe working with him again, he will come up with a new system.

“It’s up to us players to adapt and understand what he wants from us.”

The rest of the played to have been contracted by Phunya Sele Sele are Bongani Sam, Mpusana Tani, Langa Mvana, Thato Lingwati, Tebogo Potsane and Maloisane Ramasimong.

Celtic will kick-off their season on Sunday afternoon when the face Chippa United at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein. – MORGAN PIEK
