350 G4S employees fired

DUANE PETRUS – 350 warders at the Mangaung Correctional Facility have been fired after failing to report for work on the set deadline.
G4S Regional President, Andy Baker, says they striking staff failed to report to work after the deadline was extended to 13:30 today.
The warders have not reported for work since last week Wednesday, saying they feel unsafe at the prison and requesting some senior staff members to be placed on special leave.
Their first deadline was at 17:00 yesterday, before it was extended.
Baker earlier said many of the striking employees wanted to return to work, but were intimidated by the labour union, Popcru, to not do so.
