“Absolute pride, I am so proud of the girls and the staff, it is an absolute privilege.”

That’s the way headmaster Zinnette de Wet described the feeling after the school was named the 2015 National Top Public school at the National Education Excellence Awards that took place in Pretoria.

Eunice, along with Danville Park Girls School from Durban, received the award during a ceremony at the Union Building on Friday. De Wet says the award is recognition for a year of excellence.

“I think it is about sustained excellence. All of our learners (147 learners) received a bachelor’s pass rate in 2015. We have highly experienced staff, not only at Eunice but in Bloemfontein. At Eunice we envision the best for our learners. It is a collective work ethic and that is something we must take care of.”

De Wet says people should expect much more of the same from the matric class of 2016.

“I think the important thing is that every learner know that they have to give their best. In the end if you put all of that together, that becomes perfect,” says De Wet.
