Courant can confirm that former Proteas spinner, Nicky Bojé, has been named as the new VKB Knights coach on a two-year deal as from 1 May 2016.
Bojé has been in charge of the side since late last year in a caretaker role after the sudden resignation of former coach, Sarel Cilliers.
His former teammate, at both national and provincial level, Allan Donald, has also been assisting the side of late with Bojé representing the Libra Legends in the recent Masters Champions League.
Bojé, Allan Donald, as well as the former Cape Cobras coach and cricket commentator, Shukri Conrad, were the three short-listed candidates for the vacant role which the franchise had advertised.
Donald withdrew from the race last night, while Conrad withdrew on Friday last week.
This afternoon, the Knights’ Board of Directors met behind closed doors to discuss the appointment of Bojé.
As a player he took a 100 wickets in 43 Tests for South Africa and also scored 1312 runs and took 96 wickets in 113 One-Day Internationals.
