Mangaung police have discovered 11 stolen sheep cramped in a room.
According to police spokesperson Ikobeng Hlubi, on Monday whilst police were busy with their normal policing duties at Chris-Hani location in Mangaung, a team of Constables Palesa Nkakana, Lebogang Maphalala and Moabi Mogwera, received a tip off about the suspicious vehicle with stolen goods.
“Without hesitation the police acted swiftly to the information and successfully recovered 11 suspected stolen sheep cramped in one bathroom size backroom, nine (9) of the sheep was found already dead and only three were still alive. Kopanong Crime Prevention police has successfully arrested four suspects for being in possession of suspected stolen sheep.”
The four suspects aged between 30-35 years of age were arrested and charged with stock theft, and are expected to appear before Bloemfontein Magistrate Court soon.
Mangaung Cluster Commander Major General Solly Lesia thanked all members involved in ensuring that those responsible are behind bars. He further urged the community at large to continue working hand in glove with the police and report illegal activities as soon as possible.
