The South African Revenue Service (SARS) Customs inspectors in the detector dog unit intercepted a female passenger from Sao Paolo with 8kg of cocaine in a suitcase estimated at R2.3-million at OR Tambo International Airport yesterday.
According to a statement, the woman’s luggage was scanned and 5 handbags lined with secret compartments were found inside one of the two suitcases after the dog reacted positively to the bag.
The female passenger along with the 8kg cocaine valued at R2 301 600. 00 was handed to the SA Police Service (SAPS) for further investigation and possible prosecution.
