A disciplinary process, involving a lecturer, will take place at the University of the Free State’s (UFS) Bloemfontein campus. This comes after the Afrikaans version of a second year auditing question paper had answers to a five-mark question included in the question. These answers did not appear in the English version of the paper, which was circulated by some disgruntled students on social media on Monday.
UFS spokesperson, Lacea Loader, says the matter is being investigated. The completed test will be set aside and new questions, covering the same scope, will be given to all students. She says the new test will be subject to external moderation which will continue in the particular department until the end of the year. Loader says the lecturer claims it was a genuine, unintentional mistake. In the process of revising both papers, the lecturer did not remove the guidelines for both versions.
