The 17 students who were arrested on the University of the Free State’s Bloemfontein campus for illegal gathering in October, will be back in court next year. The case has been postponed to January 10 for further investigations.

The state and defence are also still waiting for a final decision by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) as to whether the case will proceed or be transferred to the regional court.

They were earlier released on three conditions – they must arrive at court for every set court date, they may not commit any offence until then, and they have to inform their legal representative should they leave the Bloemfontein area.
