Two arrested for possession of stolen tower batteries in Bayswater


Two males broke into a cellphone tower located at a school in Bloemfontein and stole 32 battery units worth an estimate R100 000.

Bayswater police were alerted. A lookout for the two unknown men’s vehicle was issued and they were spotted in Bayswater. The vehicle was stopped by Crime Prevention members on patrol.

The 32 units were found in the vehicle along with a bolt cutter. It was later discovered that the two suspects aged 32 and 34 are Zimbabwean nationals. They were both arrested for possession of suspected stolen property and burglary on business premises, their vehicle was also confiscated.

The two are still to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate Court soon.
