Two suspects aged 31 and 36 are expected to appear in the Bafokeng Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 17 November 2016, for business robbery and illegal possession firearm and ammunition.
The pair’s court appearance emanates from their arrest on Tuesday after they allegedly committed business robbery at Mafenya village near Phokeng.
According to information, the suspects entered a tuck-shop and pointed a cashier with a firearm, tied and locked him at the back room.
They allegedly took money, cigarettes, a cell phone and airtime vouchers before fleeing the scene on a Silver Honda Ballade with Gauteng registration numbers.
The suspects’ vehicle was spotted on Boshoek road by police who were doing routine patrols.
A car chase ensued and the suspects stopped at Luka village main road where the police searched them as well as their vehicle. It was during the search that a loaded Norinco pistol was found inside the vehicle.
The suspects were then apprehended for business robbery and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition
