Today, 12 years ago, SA Men’s relay swim team win gold at Athens Olympics


The 4 x 100m South Africa men’s relay team won a gold medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.

The team, that comprised Roland Schoeman, Lyndon Ferns, Darian Townsend and Ryk Neethling, clocked a new world record of 3:13.17 at the time, ahead of the Netherlands and USA respectively.
