Three factories within walking distance of each other in Bloemfontein were burnt in 2 separate fires this week.
The Mangaung Fire department can confirm that on Thursday evening at around 10pm, they responded to a call that a pool supply factory in Henry van Rooyen Street was on fire.
On arrival they found that the roof had been destroyed by the harsh flames. On Friday evening another fire broke out, not far from the first one.
It is reported that at around 5pm on Friday evening, wooden pallets which were stored in the backyard of this factory caught alight.
The fire spread to the storage area of a funeral supplies factory, and coffins which were in storage were destroyed.
The fire department confirms that the backyards of both these factories had been destroyed by the fires.
An investigation into the cause of the fires is currently underway.
